ABOUT COMPANY

Hindustan Antibiotics Limited (HAL) is the first drug manufacturing company to be set up in the public sector by Government of India with active co-operation of WHO and UNICEF.

Set up on 10th March, 1954, HAL is the first drug manufacturing unit in India to undertake commercial production of antibiotics like Penicillin, Streptomycin, Gentamicin, Ampicillin & Amoxycillin etc. HAL has diversified in formulation activity and has facility to manufacture various dosage forms - injectables, capsules, tablets, large volume parentrals, liquid orals, etc. conforming to pharmacopoeial standards. HAL has also diversified into agro-vet products.

Our R&D has the distinction of being the only laboratory in the public sector in India which has come out with its own discoveries Viz. Hamycin for Skin infections and Aureofungin for plant fungal control.

Our manufacturing unit is situated at Pimpri, an industrial suburb in the city of Pune , which is 160 K.M. South west of Mumbai in India.

HAL with its social objective of providing affordable drugs through out India, has set-up two subsidiary companies - Maharashtra Antibiotics & Pharmaceuticals Ltd. and Karnataka Antibiotics & Pharmaceuticals Ltd.

A team of well qualified , trained and dedicated staff working round the clock backs manufacturing effort . Sophisticated technology and exacting standards go hand in hand to produce quality drugs for HAL. The export formulations of this plant have the WHO approval for GMP.

HAL was the first company in India to launch recombinant DNA product, rHU-Erythropoietin (Hemax) in 1993.

Presently, Part of HAL’s fermentation manufacturing facility has been leased to RPG Life Sciences (RPGLS) for manufacture of Vitamin B-2 / B-12

In the formulation area, HAL has entered into a technical agreement with M/s Serum Institute of India Limited for manufacture of the Plasma Volume expander made from Polymerised Gelatin – Polygeline 3.5%

HAL’s bulk and formulations are exposed to rigorous quality control tests at every stage of production to build in the highest level of quality.

MANUFACTURING FACILITIES

A. BULK DRUGS
HAL’s Bulk manufacturing facility includes well equipped plant for manufaturing Benzathine Penicillin, Procaine Penicillin and Sodium Penicillin etc.

B. FORMULATION PLANTS
I. POWDER INJECTABLES
Facility includes the State-of-the art automatic powder injectable line from Robert Bosch (FRG) with the line speed of 300 Vials/min includes all operation right from washing to packing line.
Annual plant capacity : 132 Million vials.

II. LARGE VOLUME PARENTRAL(LVP)
Facility includes the State-of-the-art Blow fill seal machines from Rommelag (Switzerland) and Autoclaves of Gettenge make.
Annual plant capacity : 12 Million Bottles/annum in 100 Ml / 540 Ml

III. NON-PARENTRALS
WHO-GMP certified facility for Tablets and Capsules with the complete isolation for ß-Lactum antibiotics from other antibiotics.
Tablet facility includes 45 station Manesty compression Machines, 27 station and 16 station Compression machines with matching packing capacities for Blister packing or Strip packing.
Capsule facility includes two state-of-the-art automatic Capsule filling machines, Robert Bosch(FRP) make with the production rate of 1500 Capsules/min.

C. AGRICULTURE PRODUCTS
Agriculture facility includes two state-of-the-art automatic pouch filling machines, of Ganson make with the production rate of 35 pocuhes/min.
Annual plant capacity : 48 Lakhs/Year

D. LIQUID SYRUP
Liquid Syrup facility include automatic filling, sealing and labelling machine with the production rate of 120 Bottles/min.
Annual plant capacity : 24 Lakhs/Year
